Children who are raised without fathers or active male role models in their life are extremely susceptible to abuse. When children do not have this male father figure in their life, they actively seek replacements for it elsewhere. This can become devastating if their affections end up falling upon the wrong person.
Parents who are raising children without an active father figure, (or mother figure) should try to find opportunities for them to interact with adults of the missing parents sex as much as possible. (Under a watchful eye of course). Children who are starved for this affection are going to be more likely to attract an abuser in the first place, and a lot more likely to go along with whatever affection the abuser dishes out, abusive or not. They are also more likely to buy into the abusers conditioning or behaviors, thinking that this is something that all kids do with their dads, moms, etc.
In this book, we talk about fathers and normal father to daughter or father to son relationships.
